Why should we recycle.

Recycled Textiles

What Happens To Recycled Textiles?

What happens to recycled textiles is something that many people wonder about. One of two things will often happen to the textiles that get recycled. However they are both important in the scheme of becoming eco-friendly.

Before anything is done to the recycled textiles they will need to be inspected. The main reason for this is to determine what will happen to the cloth. The cloth will need to be checked for any flaws, stains or tears. If there are none they will be exported. If there are then they will be turned into wipes.

If the clothes pass inspection and are found to be without any flaws then they are exported. These exports will be sent to those who are in need of them. These people in need will be those who are either unable to afford clothing or do not have access to them.

If the textile does have flaws that make them unable to be reused they are sent to recycling factories. In these factories they are put through a number of different processes in order to create reusable wipes. These wipes are more eco-friendly than paper towels as they can be used after they are wet. This is done particularly for cotton. Textiles made of wool will be pulled and made into yarn.

It should be noted that before the cloth is sent to the factory it will be sorted. The sorting will divide the textiles into grade categories and type of material. Other thing that will be looked at is whether they are suitable for wipes meaning that they are absorbent. When the cloth is sent to the cutting factory it will be placed on special conveyor belts that will cut wipes which have no buttons or zips.

Very few people actually recycle textiles. It is important to have recycled textiles as there are many things that can be done with them.
